Are you joking? Hundreds of peer reviewed scientific articles on global climate change are readily available to the public. All you need is to go to a university library or heck you can request PDFs of the same articles via online journal archives.

@FaganRoberts
Yeah, that's what creationists tell us "evilushunists", too.

So that's bad news for half a dozen CEOS, and life saving news for several million people. Yeah, breaks yer heart.

@smaakjeks It's clear that some shenanigans have occurred in the climate science world. I don't know what to believe, anymore. Clearly, from temperature readings the last five years, we are not warming. Actually, we are cooling. Go figure, huh. I don't really believe that humans can alter the planets climate. But I am interested in getting off oil, namely Middle East oil. The way I see it, if we don't have to buy their oil, we don't have to deal with them anymore. Let 'em starve.

Check out the trend for the last 30 years.

@smaakjeks We'll see how you feel when there's no insurance companies, and you have to rely on the federal government for your healthcare. You better get healthy, or you might expire while waiting for an appointment.
@smaakjeks You're ... ( 2 months ago by wiz9496)
@smaakjeks You're trying to predict the future by concentrating on the past? I was a kid 30 years ago, and climatologists were convinced that we were heading for an ice age. Of course there was warming after that era.
@smaakjeks Naaah. ... ( 2 months ago by FaganRoberts)
@smaakjeks Naaah. Creationist castigate evolutionists for lack of faith in the god of the gaps. To a theist faith is knowledge. To an evolutionist reason and observation is knowledge.

I already do rely on my govt. for healthcare. I live in Norway. The system works pretty well from where I'm sitting, and not only with regard to healthcare. Education is virtually free as well. That is until I get my job and pay my own taxes for the next generation of students, obviously.
To be clear, I don't think that a privatized healthcare system CAN'T work. It just looks like the one in America is pretty fucked up right now. Needs fixing one way or another.

@FaganRoberts
Creatards also use the "evolution is just a different religion lolz" argument to try to bolster their viewpoint. Like you just did with climate scientists and those who accept their findings.
To a climate change denier the term "falsifiable hypothesis" is unheard of, it seems. Meanwhile almost the entire body of climate scientists are unequivocally showing us that the world is getting warmer due primarily to human actions. But who cares what those eggheads have to say, right?
@smaakjeks Faith in ... ( 2 months ago by FaganRoberts)
@smaakjeks Faith in GW hypothesis has all the hallmarks of a religion. The planet is dirty(original sin), man is evil (corp.s evil), in need of admission of sin(confession), salvation(thru govt), redemption and tithing (govt. carbon tax). Heavenly rewards and eternal damnation(clean planet/doomed planet) Those who deny climate naturally changes are silly and credulous like a religious zealot.

@FaganRoberts
That's quite a stretch there. Without going into those tortured parallels, there are two big problems with your simile to religion:
1) AGW is a falsifiable hypothesis (and no religion is). Thus it can have evidence in contradiction or support. I.e. it is scientific.
2) All the evidence suggests AGW is real.

@wiz9496
No, scientists were not convinced of global cooling. The media hyped up what a couple of them thought. You know, like when the media hyped up cold fusion back in the day?
Okay so first you say "nah, no warming, coz look at the past 5 years". When I tell you to look at the overall trend of the past 30 years (since there are fluctuations), you tell me that the past can't tell the future. You're sounding like a typical goalpost moving denier. Yes, we can tell that the earth is warming.
@smaakjeks No. It's ... ( 2 months ago by FaganRoberts)
@smaakjeks No. It's an honest and accurate analogy. I think the GW hypothesis has been falsified and it's very controversial and political. Many scientists dispute this claim of global warming/cooling whatever. The fact that it's promoted by the political left sends alarm bells ringing. In principle I would say man-made GW is possible but i think we couldn't destroy the environment even if we wanted to. Man isn't that important and I think you need to get over yourself.

@FaganRoberts
Many scientists/PhD's, yes. Very few climatologists and meteorologists etc., though. You know, the kind of scientist who are educated on this subject. Again, I draw a simile to creationists. This time with their list of evolution dissenters vs. the "Steve project" by the NCSE. Though, I think the Steve Project also lists scientists in general and not necessarily biologists. Anyway, you get the point.
All that matters is the science on the matter and it is relatively conclusive.
Array ( 2 months ago by smaakjeks)
@FaganRoberts
And, how can you say it is an accurate analogy/simile when I just refuted that analogy? Religions are not refutable. AGW is. Your simile is thus dead in the water. At least in the sense that matters. Whether or not you can interpret some sort of narrative in good vs evil and salvation etc. is moot as long as the science is there. Agreed?
So, okay let's move on to falsifiability. What would convince you that AGW is real?
@smaakjeks Oh sure, ... ( 1 month ago by wiz9496)
@smaakjeks Oh sure, call me a denier. That's what you idiots always call us when you're confronted with opposition. Just like how people who are critical of Obama get called racists. That's pretty childish.

@wiz9496
I asked you a question. Get back to me when you can answer it.
@smaakjeks The only ... ( 1 month ago by wiz9496)
@smaakjeks The only question you asked me was about cold fusion. Who gives a shit. You're grasping at straws. You said that you can tell the earth is warming. How's that?
Array ( 1 month ago by smaakjeks)
@wiz9496
Oops. Sorry, I'm having a similar discussion with someone else (FaganRoberts). I asked them what evidence would convince them AGW is happening. We had a talk about falsifiability.
But yes, you moved the goalpost. You thought 5 years in the past was a great way to measure whether or not the globe is warming, but not 30. Explain.
@smaakjeks My point ... ( 1 month ago by wiz9496)
@smaakjeks My point is that nobody really knows if there's climate change. I just think it's crawling out on a limb to predict the doom that AGW supporters do. They're asking us to change our way of life, on a hunch. That's ridiculous.
Array ( 1 month ago by smaakjeks)
@wiz9496
Your point is in that case wrong. The science is quite clear. You should start looking into it. It's not doomsday (ignore Al Gore and his ilk), but the climate is changing due to our carbon emissions. It is no hunch.
@smaakjeks How do ... ( 1 month ago by wiz9496)
@smaakjeks How do we know how much carbon is too much. Plants devour CO2. The climate science you've been learning is probably government paid for, or easily accessible, like Al Gore's movie. Listen to the "deniers", and see if you're still convinced.
